Today I’m sharing with you a super easy way to bring healing to your body from the physical reaction to stress.


Someone once said, “Life is so daily.”  That is an accurate sentiment of the pressure, responsibilities and tension of daily life. We feel a persistent and insistent demand to always be doing something, learning something or figuring a problem out.  This constant pressure when allowed into our hearts and minds gives us stress. 75-90% of all visits to a primary care doctor are related to stress.  Stress takes a toll on our bodies.


How stressed out are you - right now?  Let’s do a quick check of our bodies.

  • Are you squinting or have a furrowed brow or scowling face?
  • Is your jaw clenched, your lips pursed or do you feel like your throat feel tight?
  • Are your hands clenched?
  • Are your shoulders lifted up?
  • Are your toes curled under?
  • Do you feel tightness in your arms, legs, or backside?

How to Exchange Nervous Tension for Calmness

Have you ever experienced general anxiety where your muscles feel tight, you’re on the verge of a headache if you don’t have one already, and you feel kind of riled up, irritated, annoyed but you may not even be able to say why. You don't feel happy and you find yourself getting angry over the small stuff. You are fuming and fretting. Fussing and feeling distressed. How to Create Your Own Happiness - Part One

Who decides if you are going to be happy or unhappy in life?  You do. Abraham Lincoln said that people were just about as happy as they made up their minds to be.  We want to pass the responsibility off on others, but the good news is if it is up to us, then we aren’t waiting on anyone else and we don’t need to try to control them to get our happiness.  


I have 4 ways to create your own happiness. We’ll cover the first one today and then in the next blog, we’ll cover the other 3. 


So, how do you create your own happiness?

  1. When you get up in the morning choose to be happy.  Say out loud, “I choose happiness today.” Don’t say to me, “But Donna, that is too easy.”  Don’t get super-sophisticated in your methods or be in total disbelief and miss out. Take this with child-like faith, not jaded by your life experiences.

Are you tired and worn out?  Do you wake up in the morning and already start your day feeling tired?  Do you feel like your energy has been destroyed from all your stress, worry or fear?

Energy is a real problem for most of us.  There is always more we want to do and we run out of time and energy to get it all done.  We live busy lives. Add in stress and we can be totally wiped out. Being tired is a major sign of anxiety and depression.

Soak in God's Love to Reduce Stress

Remember the song from Sunday School: Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so.  Little ones to Him belong. They are weak but He is strong, Yes, Jesus loves me, Yes, Jesus loves me.  Yes, Jesus loves me. The Bible tells me so.


I can almost hear you singing it along with me as you read the words.  Why is this such a classic song? Because of its profound message in simple language that even a child can understand it.


So, when did you stop believing the message?

  • When you asked for something in prayer and didn’t get it?
  • When someone was abusive to you and you wondered why God allowed it?
  • When your spouse said they no longer loved you?
